Why are bees "burrowing" into my yard/gr and making their nests in the ground? How 2 get rid of bees.?

They're hovering as I mow gr. Could wait til early Morning to mow. Drown them with water? Bug spray? Bee traps? They are big fluffy yellow and black bees. HELP! :)
