Why give talentless pretty people record deals when you can give both talented& beautiful people record deals?

Singers used to be both talented and pretty. Dorothy Dandridge, Eartha Kitt, Peggy Lee, Julie London, Lena Horne etc. Even today people who are both beautiful and talented exist so why don't you hear such people in the top 20 anymore instead of no-talent messes like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan? Yet Zooey Deschanel's voice is beautiful and perfect and she doesn't even have a record deal! WTF?
