I need to restablish a connection to my ISP but my desktop has lost its IP address and/or gateway default.?

I also get and error "dns.error" message when trying to connect to the internet. I know that my wireless internet service is working because I am using my laptop to send this question. I have tried all the diagnostic procedures that I can find on my computer and nothing works so far. I really need the desktop pc. Any thoughts???
