Need help with genuine Microsoft?

I have had this toolbar on the side of my desktop(it looks like a blue star), and today I decided to see what it was. It just scanned the computer(I think), and it said that I was a victim for software counterfeiting?! Now there's a little pop-up thing on top of the toolbar, and I can't exit it. Help??? I really don't like to see the toolbar and the result....
